Obituary For Robert Francis Eberley

Age 76, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

Born on February 19, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Robert-affectionately known as Bob-was a lifelong learner and educator.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Robert Morris University and went on to complete a master's degree at Duquesne University. His passion for education led him to a fulfilling career as a teacher for over three decades, with most of his tenure dedicated to the Mount Oliver I.U. as a Reading Specialist. Most of his years were spent teaching at St. Stephen’s in Hazelwood and Bishop Canevin in Pittsburgh.

Bob’s commitment to teaching left a lasting impression on countless students and colleagues throughout the years - including his dear friends, Mary Jo Golle and Kathy Reim.

After retiring from teaching, Bob continued to give back to the community by volunteering as a receptionist at Kinesis Physical Therapy for five years. During this time, he cherished the opportunity to spend more time with his grandchildren, creating treasured memories.

Bob was incredibly proud of the work done by his daughter and her team at HRT Solutions. He found much joy in helping his daughter by running errands, doing airport drop offs, or just spending time with her.

Bob had a quick wit and a warm heart. He found delight in simple pleasures-watching Hallmark Christmas movies, baking chocolate chip cookies, and celebrating holidays with enthusiasm and love. A devoted fan of Disney and all things festive, Bob brought magic into everyday moments. He especially enjoyed traveling with his daughter Jessica and her partner, Cara. They shared countless adventures and many laughs.

During his stay at Asbury Heights, Bob was known as the Mayor of the Rehabilitation Unit. His positivity during that time was inspiring to those around him. One team member shared that Bob reignited the spark for continuing his career. Thank-you to the team members of Asbury that supported Bob and his family during his time.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Jessica(Jessi) Eberley and her partner Cara Swanson; his son Christopher (C.J.) Eberley and daughter-in-law Jaime; and his beloved grandchildren Mallory and Alex Francis. He also leaves behind nieces Christine Benz and Colleen Eberley. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Cecelia and George Eberley; sister Kathy Zeiler (David); brother David Eberley (Karen); nephew Michael Eberley; and godparents Laverne and Joe Wiehagen.

Robert Francis Eberley's legacy is one of kindness, humor, and joy. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A Christmas in July themed Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Please reach out directly to his daughter Jessica or John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 for details.
