June 4, 1927 - May 14, 2016 Robert Joseph Creely Sr. "Dutch", age 88, of West Mifflin, PA passed away peacefully on May 14, 2016 surrounded by loving family. Originally from the Manchester area of the North Side, he was the son of Harry B. Creely and Jessie May (Cole) Creely, devoted husband of Jaqueline (McElroy) Creely, who preceded him in death after 65 years of marriage, and beloved father of Dennis (Suzan) Creely, Darlene (Paul) Vietmeier, Sharon (Rich) Loos and Debra (Bill) Ward and the late Robert J. (survived by Joanne Kane) Creely Jr. He was also proud of his 13 grandchildren and was known as "Great Great" to his 24 great grandchildren (soon to be 25.) Lovingly known as "Dutch," he served his country and community touching many lives - US Army, US Postal Service for 50 years, retiring as Post Master of Monongahela Post Office, sports official for the PIAA for 40 years, Pittsburgh Postal Supervisors, volunteer with the Skyview No. 4 Fire Company in West Mifflin, VFW Post 914, American Legion Post 0380, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 76, Elks Club Post 11 and Compassionate Friends of Pittsburgh. Proud of his heritage, he was very active with the Pittsburgh Ceili Club, All Ireland Social Club, the Irish Center of Pittsbugh and could often be found dancing on Tuesday nights at the Harp & Fiddle. After retirement he also enjoyed time at the hunting camp, golfing with the South Park Wednesday morning golf club and travelling with his wife. He lived life to the fullest! Friends will be received Tuesday at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, from 2 - 8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Wednesday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Winifred Church at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations "in memorial" to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15243, the family is so thankful for their wonderful, loving care during the last hours of his blessed life.
