Obituary For Rose A. Shockey

November 8, 1912 - February 14, 2018

Rose A. (Paugh) Shockey Age 105, of 306 Cedarcove Street, Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully at home on February 14, 2018, with her daughter and friends at her side.

Born November 8, 1912, in Deer Park, MD, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Allen and Pearline (Sowers) Paugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Leo Shockey on April 1, 1981, her seven brothers (Carroll, Ernest, Charlie, Allen, Robert, Kenneth and Bennett Paugh,), her four sisters (Edna Butt, Minnie Wolfe, Hazel Stawser and Glenna Paugh), two half-brothers (Harry and Alva Paugh) and three half-sisters (Effie Paugh, Bernadine Pratt, and Cora Rodeheaver). She is survived by her daughter, Gertrude ("Trudy" Shockey) G. Pelusi. Rose was an LPN at Dr. Glass's Hazel McGilvery Hospital on Main Street in Meyersdale, PA and at the Meyersdale Community Hospital. She was also employed for a time at the Dairy Dale in Meyersdale. She was a compassionate caregiver to family and friends, a loving sister to all of her brothers and sisters, and a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday, February 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Friday morning at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul Cathedral at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
