Obituary For Rosemary O'Leary

Age 98, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Rosemary lived a vibrant life surrounded by friends and family. She spent most of her life in Beechview, living in her childhood home on Realty Avenue for over 90 years. Rosemary dedicated her life to caring for others and was a proud nurse at Pittsburgh Hospital for several decades. She loved to travel with her dear friends, had hilariously good luck in a casino, enjoyed a nice glass of bourbon, and was rarely seen without lipstick that would bring out her bright green eyes. She had an excellent memory and was "sharp as a tack" up to the very end. Long phone calls with Rosemary often raised lots of questions about you, your loved ones, and what you were up to. She always remembered the little details. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sara; her siblings, Geraldine (Timothy), James (Catherine), Joseph (Betty); and nephews Timothy (Sandy), Regis and Robert. Loving aunt to Jimmy (Missy), Nancy (Desmond), Joan (Jeff) and Maureen (Michael), as well as many great-grand nieces and nephews. She will fondly be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 in Calvary Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. If attending, meet at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 by 10:30 a.m. to join the procession.

Rosemary was a great friend to my Mother. They shared so many good times together. She was the head nurse when my Mom worked at Pittsburgh Hospital. After my Mom passed in 2014, Rosemary and I continued sharing several phone chats every week. She was indeed sharp as a tack and always remembered just what was going on in my life to inquire about it. I will miss those chats. RIP Rosemary and now the girls group is once again all together.
