Rowan Arthur Leigh, age 2 years and 9 months, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on September 4, 2024. He was born on November 24, 2021 in St. Louis, MO to Susan and Ethan Leigh. Rowan was a beautiful little boy who served as a constant reminder of the power of family, love and community. Rowan showed the world incredible strength and was a true fighter, earning the nickname “little lion man”. He was sweet and gentle with everyone he touched, especially his little sister, Etta. Rowan loved his music (“if you’re happy and you know it”), his bongos, toy piano and hedgehog. He loved being on his swing in the front yard, feeling the breeze and listening to the birds. He loved his corner of the couch, where he spent countless hours snuggling, listening to music, napping, reading books and watching reality TV with mom, or golf with dad with Punkie always close. His smile was unique and infectious - there is no one else like Rowan. Rowan faced many challenges in his life, but he and his parents worked relentlessly to make sure he experienced the world. Rowan made many road trips to Texas and Pittsburgh. He visited his aunts, uncles and cousins in Chicago and Austin. Before his passing, he traveled to the Outer Banks where he saw, touched and heard the beach for the first time along with meeting dozens of family members. Along with his incredible family and friends, Rowan had an amazing, loving team of doctors and therapists who worked tirelessly to give him the best quality of life possible. He was a tremendous gift from God and was truly an angel on this earth. Rowan is survived by his parents, Susan and Ethan; his sister Henrietta; his grandparents Judy and David McLean and Catherine and Timothy Leigh; his great-grandparents Nancy Liberatore, Neil and Jere Brewer and Richard Leigh; his aunts and uncles, Jeremy and Anna Leigh, Jennifer and Ryan Morgan, Allison and Robert Lane, Laura and David McLean, Meghan McLean and Natalie Bellini; and his beautiful cousins, Camden, Havey, Christian, Paxton, Carlyn, Calum, Quinn, Palmer, Luke, Finley, Malcolm and Addison. Rowan was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, James Liberatore, Tina Brewer, Barbara Leigh, and James and Carolyn McLean; his great aunt, Susan Liberatore; his great uncle, Steve Spinner; his cousin Mark McGuire; and dear family friend, Kevin Schnurr. Services for Rowan will be held in Pittsburgh, PA. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227 on Thursday, September 12th from 2pm - 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Saint Louise de Marillac Church, 320 McMurray Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15241 on Friday, September 13th at 10:30 am.
