Obituary For Russell E. Dougherty

Russell Dougherty, 69, of the South Hills, peacefully at home on March 18, after his struggle with chronic liver disease. Son of the late Francis Dougherty and Elva (Sunday) Dougherty. Beloved brother of Raymond (Eileen), David, Dianne (Doyal) Miller, Nicholas, Gail Freynik, Linda Gutowski and the late Patrick; adored uncle and “great” uncle. In addition to countless others, Russ will be missed by longtime family friend, Mary Ann (Simeone) Dougherty, who showed unending kindness and compassion during this difficult time. Russ had excellent skills on the pool table and a tremendous love of the game. He took up golfing more recently, which he enjoyed immensely. Russ loved live blues music and met many wonderful people who shared his passion. Nothing meant more to Russ than his family. He had a host of friends, both lifelong and recent, all of whom he cherished. Always a good-hearted soul, Russ will be sorely missed. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at which time a Blessing Service will be held.

So sorry for your loss Dougherty family (and friends). Russell always had a smile on his face for everyone. I lived next door to his Mom for years and knew him through many mutual friends and through his visits to his Mother. He will surely be missed by many.

Condolences to the Dougherty Family. 🙏🏽 My 17th year was spent with you on Spencer, Churchill, up and down Brownsville Road all night long. Plus the Gulf. Your beautiful smile, your caring heart, your kindness, your mom making me a birthday cake🎂. Then as we grew we spread our wings..... until the past several years on FB. Our paths crossed often going opposite directions on the road. It was always on my bucket list to be together once again. You will always be in my heart ♥️ The song Eleanor Rigby reminds me of our days together. Rest easy Russ. 🌹
