Obituary For Salvatore Valente

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Salvatore Valente, age 80, of Whitehall, who left us peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Born in Castelfranci, Italy.

Sal was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie, who he met at age 27 when she was visiting Italy. Their romance brought them to America to start a life together. They shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories. Sal was the proud father of Michael (Charity) and Anthony, and a cherished PapPap to Milana, Santino, AJ, Nick, and Marcus. His grandchildren were everything to him. He is also survived by his three sisters, Evelina, Maria, and Grazia as well as many nieces and nephews.

For 30 years, Sal worked as a mechanic at Valente's Auto Service, where he was known for his work ethic and genuine love for his customers. He liked talking and joking with customers as much as he liked fixing their cars. If ever a problem arose, Sal would simply state, “No worry." Whether facing a challenge at work or in life, he approached everything with a calm, steady resolve and often followed up with his signature saying, "Wadda ya gonna do?" A man of few words, but many catch phrases, Sal was always quick to offer his support. His easygoing nature, love of good food and wine, and genuine hospitality will be missed by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, love for his family, and his unwavering optimism will continue to inspire us. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts. “You gotta die sometime."

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m.

    Anthony and Michael I have such wonderful memories of your mother and father. I can remember when you dad came first to America. They were so happy. My Dad Italo your grandfathers brother and my Mother spent such great times at the Damiani house with your Mom and Dad. I remember when your aunt also came to visit and the great Italian dinners.
