Obituary For Simon C. Allalunis

November 23, 1916 - May 23, 2015

Allalunis, Simon (Aleliunas)

Passed away peacefully on May 23, 2015. He was 98 years old.

Simon was born in Pittsburgh, but at a young age moved to Lithuania with his family. At the age of 20, he returned to Pittsburgh and began work as an apprentice watchmaker at Iron City Clock Hospital. He later met and married Anne Bernatonis and together they had four children. Simon's two passions in life were his family and Iron City Clock Hospital. He was immensely proud of the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also proud of his life's work as a watchmaker and of Iron City Clock Hospital's over 70 year history of service to the community. Simon was an original member of the Brentwood Businessmen's Association. Simon will be deeply missed and his memory cherished by Anne, his wife of 67 years, his three daughters, Joan, Diane and Regina, his son Robert, sons-in-law Samuel and Robert, his nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at St. Casimir Cemetery

Just wanted to say how sorry we were to learn of his passing. May God give his family the comfort that they will need during this difficult time. He was a wonderful man. We stopped at his shop quite often and even repaired our cuckoo clock and showed us how to use it properly. He had a beautiful smile.

Dear Allalunis, Many many watch batteries were replaced in my watches and for that I thank you for you kind services and wonderful conversations. You will be missed not only for your dedicated work but for your quiet but effective ways with your customers. You were an inspiration to many. May God embrace you in his open arms and may you now be at peace. Ellen Mattei Vetere (Customer)
