Hoffman, Sylvia J., age 98, died peacefully surrounded by family on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2015. She is survived by her children, Marlene Whikehart and Daniel Hoffman, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a wealth of dear friends. Sylvia is preceded by her dear and patient husband, George W. Hoffman a WWII Veteran, her four brothers, and two sisters. Sylvia was a lifetime member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Christian Mother's Guild, worked to support the Parish Fund raising Festival, and fed the homeless at the Red Door. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday from 2-7 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anne Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. If desired family suggests contributions to St. Anne Catholic Church "Angel Fund", 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon, PA 15234.
