Scherer, Thomas M., age 79, on Monday, October 10, 2022, of Baldwin Borough, formerly of Knoxville and Arlington.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Helen (Valdhans) Scherer; loving Dad of Michele "Shelly" (Paul) Lavelle; son of the late Robert and Honey Scherer; brother of Ron (the late Alice) Scherer of TX, Franny (Eileen) Scherer, Kathleen (Ron) Bauman and the late Norma (Ben) Patterson and Robert (Henrietta) Scherer. Also survived by his dog LuLu, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Tom spent over 30 years with the Diocese of Pittsburgh. ending his career as Business Manager at St. Sylvester Church. He was very involved with Blessed Trinity Parish. You could find him at every Fish Fry and parish festival, not to mention as Santa and the Easter Bunny at the respective lunches. His family, friends and faith were what he cherished most followed closely by Jack on the Rocks, Frank Sinatra and cowboy movies. Tom was a kind and caring man who will be missed by many. Tom's family wishes to thank his hospice Angels, especially Michelle, whose kindness and caring will never be forgotten. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
