Obituary For Torino Mincin, Jr.

A golden heart stopped beating on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Torino Mincin, Jr., age 91, of Baldwin Borough passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Bruna (Fantin) Mincin, for 61 years who was the most devoted wife and caregiver he could ask for in his final days. He leaves behind four daughters who loved him dearly; Rita Mincin, Mary (Richard) Odato, Lisa (Donny) Scott and Gina (Les) Rowlands. Cherished Nonno of Marissa, Ericka and Tina Odato, Justin and Jessica Rowlands and Sara and Natalie Scott who all adored him and always looked forward to their lunch dates with him. He was the brother of the late Rose Mincin, Edith Cilia and his twin, Leo Mincin. And special uncle to many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Junior and all sought his advice on their projects and endeavors. He started his career as a master carpenter and later became a highly respected builder of quality homes in the South Hills. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, never turning down an invitation to be with them. Dancing and accordion music were his passion. There wasn't a Slovenian polka he didn't like, despite being 100% Italian. He lived his life simply and always with integrity. No matter what challenges he faced, he stayed positive until the end. For those who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him, he will be dearly missed. Family and friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 10:15. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 11:00 a.m. Due to the current public health crisis, mask and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.

It would be hard to find a kinder more gentle man than Junior Mincin. He and Bruna always made the time to visit with Amy and I when we come to Pittsburgh. Our family has lost a great guy. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

My heart bleeds for your loss. I have the pleasure of living in one of Junior's builds and this house is as strong and kind as the builder himself. He welcomed us in as he would his own. We will miss seeing his smiling face and warm heart. Truly one of a kind.

So sorry to hear of Juniors passing. He was a wonderful man and will be missed greatly. He always had a smile for everyone and never was too busy not to stop and gab with everyone. When my dad passed, the pope had passed 2 hours earlier. My mom said that the pope needed an accordian player. When my sister, Donna, passed, we thought she went into training to organize all the souls that were about to begin arriving. Looks like God needed another expert builder to house all these new souls. Hopefully they're all resting on Sundays at a polka party. I'm sure he's looking down on us, proud of his family and life's accomplishments. May he rest in peace.
