Obituary For Vera B. Kohley

July 25, 1922 - January 10, 2016

Kohley, Vera B. (Beistel), on Sunday, January 10, 2016 of Baldwin.

Beloved wife of the late Phillip W. Kohley; loving mother of James (Lisa) Kohley; grandmother of Matthew, Justin (Laura), Jessica and Ashley Kohley; sister of the late Lynn Beistel, Arma Podbesek, Grant and Eugene Beistel. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Vera worked at the Baldwin Community Methodist Church and was a longtime member of Stewart Avenue Lutheran Church, 2810 Brownsville Road. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 until time of her service at 12 noon. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Stewart Avenue Lutheran Church, 2810 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.

    Our condolences to Jim and to the family of 'Mrs. Kohley'. The farther removed we become from growing up during the 50's and 60's, the more we appreciate our great parents and our good neighborhood on Hazelhurst Ave. The stability, security and camaraderie that we enjoyed, the ethics and values that we learned remain with us. Thank you, Mrs. Kohley, along with the other Moms and Dads, for the wonderful example you were of a loving parent, hard worker and good citizen.
