We wish to express our condolences to Susie and the entire Bertha family on Bill's passing. As a VB member since 1996, I can honestly say that Bill was at the top of my list of all time gentlemen and favorite golfers and someone I aspired to comport myself in a similar fashion. He was also a role model in that I wanted to stay in shape and be as active as him post retirement and I always thought Bill would be shooting his age or better well into his 80's. I feel very fortunate to have played with Bill the weekend before Thanksgiving when the weather was still great and while that will be our last rounds together, I will think of him in the spring when the weather breaks and still try to live up to the standard he set as a class act on and off the course. A true gentleman and legend at Valley Brook Country Club. I did not know Bill super well but all of my interactions, normally congratulating him when Susie and himself won a couples event, where memorable. People use the word gentleman often but in the case of Bill its the most apt description I could think of. Susie can take comfort he's with God now. - Ian and Juliet Ley

It is hard to find the words to express how devastated we all are to learn of Bill's passing. We saw he and Susie in December for a holiday dinner and were looking forward to do it all over again in Hilton Head, in February. Another fun dinner and a few rounds of golf. But he is now in the warmth and comfort of God's loving hands. We miss him dearly and are so grateful for all the wonderful years of golf, camaraderie, friendship, and warmth that he shared with all of us that were lucky enough to have him in our lives. We love you, Bill. And count on us to give Susie the comfort she will need in these coming days, weeks, and months. Our sincere condolences to the entire Bertha Family. Alan, Donna, and Drew
