May 11, 1944 - September 6, 2015 Flaherty, William Joseph "Bill" Age 71, of Knoxville. Every sunrise is a message from God. Every sunset his signature. Bill's sunset was suddenly on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Beloved son of the late Willie and Mary McDonagh-Flaherty; devoted and loving brother of Mary Ann Flaherty-Bennett; treasured life-time friend of Alice P. Lavelle; survived by Pittsburgh and Florida cousins Ed, Helen and Mike Grusch, Mary Frances Costello, Jim Costello and Cassie Kelley. Also survived by the McDonagh's, Mary, Brigid, Tom, Nora, Colm, Stephen, Padraig, Ann of Boston, MA and Mike McDonagh of Hong Kong. The Flaherty's, Aunt Margie, Mary Margaret, Dolly, Annie, Gerry, Peggy, Bobbi, Lydia, Barbara and Sister Martha Lieb L.S.P. of Baltimore, MD. Bill was a 1962 graduate of St. Canice High School and a member of the Alumni Association. He retired from Sears Service Department in 1991, after 24 years and Pittsburgh International Airport Authority in 2010, after 17 years. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15212.
