William W. “Bill” McVay, Esq. Age 87, of Upper St. Clair, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 8, 2020. Beloved husband of Sara (Sally) Provins McVay for almost 60 years; loving father of Janice M. McVay, DDS (John M. Bell) and James Mortimer McVay II, Esq. (Kristen); father-in-law of Suzanne McVay. Adored Papa of Sarah and Ian Bell, Will McVay IV, Maeve and Mairi McVay; brother of Martha McVay Hills (Robert). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter W. McVay, Esq. and Edythe F. McVay, his brother Second Lieutenant Air Force James Mortimer McVay, and his son William W. McVay III, Esq. Bill loved his family dearly, and he served both his church and community with grace, humility and generosity. Mr. McVay graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1950 and Allegheny College in 1954 where he played football and baseball, lettering in baseball all 4 years. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Attorney McVay started his legal career in the law office of James P. McArdle, shortly thereafter becoming a partner in the firm McArdle, McLaughlin, Paletta & McVay. He was a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers and the PA Trial Lawyers Association. During his career, he was designated legal counsel for the United Transportation Union for more than 30 years. He was admitted before every level of court, up to and including, the United States Supreme Court. Mr. McVay received a Certificate of Meritorious Service in recognition of 60 years of distinguished service as a member of The Allegheny County Bar Association. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Highland Road, Bethel Park on Tuesday, June 23 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the John F.
