Obituary For Winifred (Fleming) Boland

Winifred Assumpta Fleming was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1925 to Andrew and MaryEllen Fleming. On June 22, 1955, Win and William Boland were married in San Antonio, Texas. After getting married, Win and Bill lived in Michigan until they relocated to Pittsburgh in 1996. Win was a loving wife and mother. She was a devout Catholic and devoted herself to her family. She was an excellent bridge player and loved playing all card games and scrabble with her children and grandchildren. She took up golf when Bill retired and recorded her first ace before he did to his chagrin. She will be remembered for the love and time she gave her family, friends and community. Win is survived by her children, Kevin (Fay), Bryan (Colleen) and Jane (Christopher) Keough; grandchildren James (Jessica), Kelly, Terence (Kim), Garrett, Patrick (Caitlyn), Daniel (Livia), Ian (Lilly), and Nathan Boland, Abigail and Patrick Boland, and William (Mary) and Erin Keough; great grandchildren Aidan Bronkar; Avery, Brie and Finley Boland; Jaxon and Logan Boland: Crew Boland and Isabelle Winifred Boland. She was preceded in death by William Boland, her husband of 65 years; her parents and siblings, John, Joseph, Patrick, James, Garrett and Margaret Fleming, Ellen McNelis, Sarah Luddy, Catherine Muri, Mary Swope and Ann Brannan.
Family and close friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m. The committal service at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will take place privately on Monday, March 4, 2024. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, UPMC Montefiore, Suite 421 West, 200 Lothrop Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation (www.angelman.org ) or the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (www.cureangelman.org).

    Our condolences to Jane and Chris's family as they deel with Win's passing. Also, to other Boland family members included Kevin and Fay's family we had the pleasure of spending time with at a shared Italy trip and nephew Will and Mary's wedding.
