Obituary For Alfred Hawthorn

September 8, 1934 - January 28, 2015 Hawthorn, Alfred "Al", Sr., age 80, unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 of Baldwin Boro. Beloved husband of Irene (Keilback) Hawthorn for over 55 years; loving father of Kimberly (Kenneth) Finley of Colorado, Alfred, Jr. (Sheri) Hawthorn and David Hawthorn; Grandpap of Ashley, Jessica, Christopher and Ethan; Pap of Kyle and Dylan. Al was a longtime and active member of Zion Lutheran Church and a devoted family man. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Zion Lutheran Church Food Bank, 4301 Brownsville Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236.

    Devout prayers and deepest sympathy dearest Irene, Dave, Tiger and family. Such a sweet, loving, kind and wonderful friend will be sorely missed. He gave us so many great memories. At peace now, he has left a legacy of a beautiful and marvelous family that we adore. We are so very Blessed to have known Al, and All of you.     Our deepest sympathies to all of you - Irene - Kim and family, "Tiger" and family and David. We have been friends for so very many years and have only the happiest of memories that we shared together. Camping, picnics and having lunch Christmas week come to mind immediately. Your 55+ years of marriage are a symbol of what "true love" was for both of you. Al will always be remembered as a good husband and father as well as a very good friend. God bless.
