Obituary For Amy Boyle McCarthy

Amy Boyle McCarthy has climbed her final mountain. She passed the morning of Sunday, December 17, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, aunt, great aunt, cousin, colleague, friend and sister. She was the first child of Catherine and the late Raymond Boyle, loving wife of 41 years of Dennis McCarthy, and proud mother of Dylan and Shawn. Amy was the cherished aunt of Kristy (Tyler), Katie (Blake), Matthew and Jessie, Erin (Mike), Mike (Sonia) and Shane (Julie), Amanda (Sean), Sam, Billy (Kimmy), Lucy and Tim, Meghan (Mike), Paul (Michelle), Shannon, Kelsey (Allison), Brian (Carlie), Zachary (Austen) and Bradley (Bella) and John Argento. Special great aunt to Trenton, Nolan, Fiona, Michael, Mico, Liam, Mila, Declan, Shaylee, Emilie, Aurora and Hannah, Rylee and Hailey. She had 51 Boyle cousins and 17 Phillips/Curley cousins and knew them and their families all by name. Strong bonds with their own cousins will help Dylan and Shawn through this difficult time. Amy was the oldest of eight siblings and will be profoundly missed by Bob (Donna) Boyle, Judy Boyle, Nancy (Mike) Mason, Mike (Virginia) Boyle, Katie Colborn Boyle, Mary Ellen (Chris) Reiser and John (Debra) Boyle.

Amy was a 1973 graduate of Keystone Oaks High School; during her high school years she volunteered as a candy striper at St. Joseph Hospital; she graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, where she worked three jobs to pay for her books and tuition. Upon graduation, she received the Carnegie Mellon Outstanding Technical Student Award. She had a storied career at Proctor & Gamble in Ohio; during that time she published a technical book with an ISBN. She also worked for Intel in California, and PowerSoft in New England before they returned to Pittsburgh after the births of Dylan and Shawn so they would know their cousins. For the past 13 years, Amy was a proud owner of her Mary Kay business. She met many dear colleagues and customers who enriched her life. Amy will be missed by a wide-ranging group of friends.

Amy is now in the comfort of her loved ones who were waiting for her, especially her Dad, Sammy and Zaky.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be held privately at a future date.

Always the first person to send a thoughtful card or gift over something simple. The first to send a text letting them know she was thinking of them, and was so extremely helping in getting Zak his pnc job 💜
