Obituary For Anthony J. "Chick" DiCesaro, Jr.

October 4, 1934 - September 23, 2018

DiCesaro, Anthony J., Jr. "Chick", age 83, peacefully, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 of Baldwin Boro. Beloved husband of 54 years to Jane L. (Joyce) DiCesaro; loving father of Anthony J. III (fiancée Julie Koval) and Daniel T. (Shelly); cherished grandfather of Jackson P. and Anthony J. IV; son of the late Anthony J., Sr. and Filomena; loving brother of Antoinette (the late Charles) Bloskis, Carmeline (the late Edward) Bloskis and the late Esther (Joseph) Maiolo, Josephine (Guy) Farey, and Rose DiCesaro. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Chick was creative, passionate and always involved in community projects he cared deeply about, in particular the St. Anthony Festival and The Blessed Mother Shrine. In his younger years he was a member of and officer in the South Hills and Duquesne/West Mifflin Rotary Clubs and contributed greatly to the success of many Rotary projects. He was a barber/hair stylist by trade but also operated a landscaping company and ushered and worked security in Mellon Arena, Consol and PPG Paints Arena. He treasured his mornings at LA Prima in the Strip where he developed cherished friendships with many special friends. He enjoyed making limoncello, but not so he could drink it himself, but so he could share it with friends and strangers alike. He was welcoming and generous and loved his family above all. He truly was, as a close friend said, "one of a kind". He truly will be missed. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4055, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday and Thursday, September 26 and 27, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at noon. If desired, family suggests contributions to The St. Anthony Festival Corporation, c/o John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc. or St. Sylvester Church, 3754 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh PA 15227.

Many memories of Chick from Market Square. We were members of the Market Square Association and "invented" the barter system in that area. A haircut for some chicken; some fruit for a haircut; a lunch for some fruit, and so forth. What a great personality he had and how he loved his family. Sympathies of all who loved him.
