Of Pittsburgh PA, was an incredibly devoted father and a trusted friend of many. Tony lost a courageous battle with dementia at the age of 89 on Friday, August 28. Born April 20, 1937, Husband of the late Carol Ann Lutch, loving father of Anthony Joseph Lutch and Jeffrey John Diluccia, son of the late Anthony F. and Thelma Lutch; brother of the late Francis “Bo” Lutch and Robert Lutch, uncle to Lori (Mike) Preston, Lisa (Jeff) Mcfall, Jamie (Mindy) Lutch, and Joseph (Sara) Lutch.
Tony is remembered throughout Pittsburgh as a metallurgist, realtor, and musician. After a 29 year career with Mesta Machine Company, Tony transitioned to a successful career in real estate that spanned more than 4 decades. He was well respected by his coworkers and clients, applying his passion to sales and mentoring others. Tony’s musical talent was another defining part of his life. He was the brainy half of the handsome and charming musical duo ‘Tony and Bo.’ He entertained many audiences for decades, and the duo even developed a song for the Mondale/Ferraro campaign.
Tony’s passions were supporting his family, gardening, and pheasant hunting. In addition to providing a sound foundation and strong work ethic, Tony always had the best interest of his sons in mind. Gardening was his oasis, something he worked very hard at. In a home where he was born and moved to later in life, he transformed into a gardener’s dream. Garden Terraces similar to those seen in Italy, a wooded lot cleared by hand, planted fruit trees and flower beds, irrigation systems, and underground wells were some of the many improvements that led to gardens that are still spoken of today. His passion for hunting pheasants in South Dakota was legendary, and was done with such conviction that it left even the most wary of pheasants concerned.
Tony was devoted to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He worked religiously at keeping his body fit, and his dedication to peddling a stationary bike at home and workouts at the gym carried throughout most of his life, allowing him to pursue his passions into his 80’s. His approach was “the body doesn’t wear out, it rusts out”.
Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 2-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Church.
