Obituary For Anthony V. Palatucci, Jr.

Age 87, of Brentwood, passed peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 24, 1937, Anthony is the son of the late Anthony and Nellie Palatucci; beloved husband of nearly 66 years (1 week shy) to Mary (Cassano); father of Victor (Karen), Vincent (Kimberly), Vernon and Anthony, III (Carol); grandfather of Amy, Victor (Rachel), Vincent (Melissa), Jesse (Jordan), Shane (fiancé Paige), Erica (Brandon), Emilia (Tim), and Gabriella (partner Cody); great-grandfather of Savannah, Anthony, Charli and Milo; brother of the late Jane (Fred) Davoli and Alvina(John) Joyce; brother-in-law of Louis Cassano and the late Joanne Cassano.

Anthony was a graduate of St. Wendelin's School, a meat-cutting trade school in Toledo, Ohio and Dale Carnegie Leadership Training. He cooked in the National Guard, then worked alongside his father at the Villa Mart grocery store in Brentwood, founded in 1947. Later, the Villa Mart transitioned into Ches Anthony's Catering. Anthony led the family company to multiple "Best Catering" awards. He was most proud of the company's "Best Family Business" awards and the opportunity to work with his wife, sons, family members and friends that were so close, they might as well share the Palatucci name.

Anthony was selfless, kind-hearted, hardworking, humble, wise and most importantly, humorous. He could always find the perfect way to make people laugh. He will be forever remembered as the gold standard of a husband, father and grandfather.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Wednesday Morning at 9:15. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church, 5200 Greenridge Drive, Whitehall PA 15236 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Park, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.

Uncle Tony, just ten years older than me, was more like an older brother than an uncle. I couldn't have asked for a finer role model in life. He was one of the most loving, kind, and generous souls I have ever known. He was one of the most giving people, and a man whose heart overflowed with devotion to his beautiful family. I carry with me so many cherished memories of our times together, and later, with the wife and children he so deeply adored and lived for. I only wish I had been able to spend even more time with him, because every moment was a lesson in love, faith, and humility. He taught me so much about life. My prayers are with Aunt Mary and their beautiful family. I know, without doubt, that one day they will see him again. As for me, I will forever hold close the memories of an absolutely remarkable man who touched my life in more ways than words can ever express. Fred David Davoli

My thoughts and prayers are with Anthony's family. When I was in my childhood years, I saw Anthony working with his father at the Villa Mart. I lived on Willett Road, where the old army camp was, and walked to the store often. I have many fond memories of the barbershop below the store, returning pop bottles, and buying candy, lunch meat for my long walk back home. It was, and praying it is still a great neighborhood store. Thanks, Anthony, for the wonderful memories.
