Obituary For Arunas Maciulis

Arunas Maciulis was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend. He left this world peacefully at home, in the comfort of his family, on March 12, 2021, at age 61, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lithuania and deeply loved his former country. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved fishing. By the age of 12, he earned money by selling his catch to locals and continued his passion for fishing throughout his battle with cancer. At the age of 20, Arunas joined the military and served for two years. He had a vivid memory of his years of service and shared that history with his family and friends. He moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1996 with no money to his name, many aspirations, a strong work ethic, and a drive to succeed. Upon migrating to the U.S., he spent two years working and saving so that he could eventually relocate his family to create a new life filled with opportunities. Arunas loved his former country and culture and was equally proud to become a U.S. citizen and embrace his new country. Arunas found work as a laborer upon moving to the states and never missed a day of work. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and give his children opportunities to succeed. Arunas loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was especially proud to watch them carry on the traditions from the old country. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving wife and best friend, Erika Maciuliene, to whom he was married for 37 years. Beloved father of Sandra (Brendt) Seymore and Arminas Maciulis. Devoted grandfather of Elana Seymore and Evalyn Seymore. Loving brother of Loreta Overlingiene and Edita Maciulyte. Friends will be received at John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 2-8p.m.. Funeral and interment will be held privately. Masks and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.

Arunas's cousin wanted the Sisters know of his death. I was living on the Motherhouse grounds at the time of his coming. I do remember his face and recall that he was a hard worker. May God bless all of his family— especially his wife. May God's blessings and graces continue to bless all of you through Arunas' goodness. Sister Janice, OSF

Arunas was a wonderful friend of our family who came to our farm to buy eggs from our chickens close to 20 years. He was a hard worker, devoted to his family and loved the outdoors. He told me stories about being in the Army while he lived in Europe, how hard it was and how happy he was to be a citizen of the United States. He would tell me what vegetables he grew in his garden. Every spring he would get buckets of cow manure for his garden and kept the worms to fish with! He was so brave with his Cancer battle, his will to survive was so great. He took his treatments without fear and lived longer than the doctors expected. I will miss his visits to my farm, My sympathy to his family and all who knew him. God Bless you Arunas
