Obituary For Austin L. Brown

March 17, 1931 - February 7, 2018

Brown, Austin L. Age 86, on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, of Whitehall, formerly of Buena Vista.

Husband of Jean A. Brown; father of Linda (Dan) D'Orazio and Beth (Chip) Watts; grandfather of Christopher (Heather) Knestaut and Alexandria, Christiana and Anastasia Watts; great-grandfather of Lily and Willow Knestaut; brother of Dolores Corron, Norman Brown and the late James and Chester Brown. Austin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as an investigator for the Department of Welfare for over 28 years until his retirement. Austin's greatest passions in life were baseball, golf, and his grandchildren. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11. If desired, family suggests contributions to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.

    I'm sorry that I missed the passing of Uncle Aussie. My deepest sympathy to all family members and especially Aunt Jean, Linda and Beth. I'm so grateful I was able to see him at my dad's funeral along with Uncle Chet. With all our complicated lives, distance, and whatever else, we lose contact with even our close families.
