Obituary For Barbara A. Strucker

Age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2021, of Port Vue.

Beloved wife of 61 years to John R. Strucker; loving mother of Denice and David Pazuchanics; devoted Grammie of Alexander and Michelle Pazuchanics and Nicholas Pazuchanics; daughter of the late George and Mildred Beck; sister of Paul (Evelyn) Beck, Helen (Ray) Brown, Jay (Cynthia) Beck and the late Marie (Fred) Wilson, Joe (Joan) Beck, Bill (survived by Emma) Beck, Ruth (Joe) Lucas, Rosemae (Jack) Bowers, Angie (survived by Bill) Doherty, George Beck, Bruce (survived by Janet) Beck and Anna Marie (John) Wheeler. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Barbara was honored to be a graduate of St Francis nursing school in Bloomfield. She worked as a registered nurse at McKeesport Hospital for over 30 years, in both the Behavior Health Unit and then as a medical surgical nurse. She was an avid supporter of the Port Vue Athletic Association - cheering on her husband's beloved Blue Rock teams, working in the concession stand, or coaching her own girls softball teams. The community of friends that formed there became her extended family. Barb became a professional fan of her grandchildren. She was thrilled to watch many live performances, concerts and high school musicals, and tried to not miss any of them. She watched many soccer, volleyball and basketball games as well, not exactly a quiet fan - she was especially helpful if a referee missed a call. In recent years, Barbara most loved spending time with her family. She taught all of us the value of friendships and being passionate about your beliefs. She was generous with her time and talents to many local organizations, and always available to anyone who needed her. Her sense of humor and colorful language will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home Chapel. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2835 E. Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.

I'm sorry to hear about Barb. I am lucky to have known her. She was a terrific person with a great sense of humor and a gift of listening. Two things about Barb I will always cherish - she, along with Sonny, were wonderful friends to my parents, enjoying many good times together, and she raised a wonderful daughter in Denice. Barb: Thank you so much for those.

So sorry to hear of Barb's passing. We were friends many years ago when she was raised on Jenny Lind Street and my family owned the store across the street. We spent many hours together in that store laughing and joking. I knew her whole family and they were all wonderful. God Bless Sonny and her whole family. Honey Gardis

What a lovely tribute. I wish I had had a chance to hear her "colorful language". It's so sad that Alzheimer's is robbing so many of us of our parents. Thinking of you.

I have such fond memories of Aunt Barb. She will forever live in my heart. She was larger than life in so many ways. I'm sorry for your loss. Love, Margaret Ann

Deepest condolences to Uncle Sonny, Dee Dee, Alex,David, and Nicholas. One of the wonderful things of coming from such a large family as the Beck's is that though it is difficult as they pass each one who does leaves a treasure trove of memories which will never leave us, and Barb certainly left each and every one of us her share.
