Obituary For Barbara Ann Stanczak

Stanczak, Barbara Ann (Konesky), passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, of Brentwood.

She joins her soul mate, Ralph who preceded her in death on New Year's Day 2012; they had been joined in marriage for 26 years. Preceded in death by her parents Adam and Barbara Konesky, her stepfather John Schultz; her brother Robert "Rascal"; stepbrother Robert "Bob" Schultz; and many four-legged furry friends. Survived by brothers Thomas Konesky of Wheeling, WV and William (Kate) Schultz of Shaler. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, her loving extended family and many dear friends. A graduate of Duquesne University, Barb taught elementary and secondary education for the Catholic Dioceses of Pittsburgh and for Pittsburgh Public Schools. A Franciscan at heart, Barb was a contributor to countless charities. However, her preference was hands-on; she purchased food, clothing and baby products for the John Heinz Children Development Center, Rainbow Kitchen, and Sisters Place. After attending morning Mass, she made preparation for her trip to Beltzhoover in order to feed two colonies of feral cats, at times trapping, getting them altered and returning them with the promise to feed. Periodically she found forever homes for some. Barb was a very active member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church of Pleasant Hills. Despite the many miles walked and the numerous activities that she participated in, the words of the prophet Micah (6:8) were her guide: To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. There will be no visitation. A private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery beside her husband Ralph. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at a future date when it is determined safe to gather publicly. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.

I had the privilege of working at Barbara's house and her wonderful landscape with my crew and she was always a joy to talk to and was a nice customer to work for. I know that she really loved God and she was a servant of God and I was glad to know her. I was shocked to hear that she had passed already over a month ago I just been to her house a few days before that. God bless to your family.

I did not know Barbara well...she taught my 4th and 5th graders how to type on the computer keys...but I knew her reputation from others who loved her kind gentle manner and her concern for others especially the stray cats in Beltzhoover area...we are looking for her helper so we can donate food to Barbara's cat colonies...if anyone reading this knows who that person is would you please call me 412-726-5651 her cats must be missing their daily visit from Barbara alot and we would like to continue feeding and caring for them. May she rest in peace knowing she will be missed in this world.

To the Family of Barbara Stanczak: I am one of Barbara's many students (Boyle High) who are deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Yet I rejoice in her, her life, strength, conviction and commitment to her faith. As our teacher, she held us to high standards and expected us to meet or exceed them. She was professional, firm, yet approachable, what I would now call "engaging". Barbara was one of a kind AND one kind human being. Barbara a had twinkle in her eyes that I attribute to the Holy Spirit, sending her out to do God's work. We saw it each day. The skills she taught me, have helped me every day of my life. My condolences to each of you. Take comfort knowing she was so loved, respected and admired. She made a difference in so many lives. Barbara is truly in the hands of God.

We are so sad to learn of Barb's passing. We have been neighbors for about 15 years. She was such a sweet person and a gentle soul. We will miss seeing her wave as she and her dog passed our house on their daily stroll through the neighborhood. Please accept our deepest sympathies, may God bless and keep you during this difficult time.
