April 26, 1937 - May 31, 2020

Obituary for Barbara J. DelBianco

With great sadness the family of Barbara Jane (Doyle) DelBianco, announces her passing on Sunday, May 31, 2020. She passed peacefully at home with her husband and family at her side after a long and heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Born April 26, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Barbara was 83 years young.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband Emilio DelBianco, of Whitehall where they made a home together throughout their 61-year marriage. They were high school sweethearts at South Hills High School on Mount Washington.
Beloved mother of Steve and his wife Elaine of McLean VA; Daniel and his wife Michelle of Valencia; David and his wife Jane of Wrightstown; Jeff of Pittsburgh and Julie and her husband Fred Stinebiser of Northville MI. Her 10 loving grandchildren brought her so much joy, John, Danny (deceased) Abby, Megan, Michael, Matthew, Lena, Mark, Zachary (deceased) and Joshua. By now she is surely in heaven with her grandsons Zachary and Danny.

Barbara was the daughter of the late John and Alice Doyle. Barb will be deeply missed by her beloved sisters Cassie Shannon and Rosemarie Towner and brother Jerry. She was preceded in death by brother Jack and sisters Virginia Moran and Betty Laeng. Her passing is deeply mourned by her neighbors, cousins and her large extended DelBianco and Doyle families.

She dedicated a large portion of her life to passing on her incredible faith in Jesus Christ to the next generation. Barbara was a devoted 54-year member of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin where her children attended and she served as an Eucharistic Minister and taught Catechism.

She had a passion for travel along with her husband “Del”. Together they enjoyed exotic beach vacations with friends and extended trips to Europe. In 1986, Barb made a pilgrimage to the West Bank and Mount Ebal on an archeological excavation and her story was featured on the cover of Biblical Archaeology Review. Barbara was a prolific and talented oil painter, creating portraits of family and landscapes, including dozens of ocean paintings displayed in their Outer Banks vacation home.

She enjoyed golfing and was a 41-year member of South Hills Country Club, where she and her husband were both avid golfers. She also served on the women’s golf committee. Playing often with her competitive children, she was the only family member to have made a hole-in-one!

Friends will be received at John F. Slater Funeral Home, 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church, 5200 Greenridge Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park. I am happy that I met Barbara, who was a neighbor to my daughter, Julie. She was such a lovely lady and we enjoyed a few evenings in the backyard with a glass of wine. You were blessed to have her as your wife, mom, and grandmother. I will remember her always for her kind heart.
