Obituary For Barbara Prunchak

May 6, 1916 - January 15, 2019

Prunchak, Barbara (Kruk), passed into Eternal Heaven, Tuesday, January 15, 2019, age 102, of Niagara Falls, NY, formerly of Scott Township. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Prunchak; dearest mother of sons, Robert J. (Judy) of Niagara Falls, NY and Richard E. (Mary) of Alexandria, VA; grandmother of Robert A. (Beth Anne) Prunchak, Lisa B. (Jim) Morningstar, Gregory (Melissa) Prunchak and Eric Prunchak; great-grandmother of Alexander, Courtney, Jimmy Morningstar and Maxwell; sister of the late Mary (Arthur) Forster and the late John Kruk; aunt to Janice Forster (Robert) Timmerman and many other nieces and nephews. Barbara Prunchak was a longtime member of Bower Hill Community Church. Family and friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

    To the family of Barbara, I am a volunteer at Elderwood, and I enjoyed spending time during activities with Barb. She was incredibly sweet, and always thankful when someone helped her. One of the last times I spent with her was in the early fall, when she wanted to go outside for a bit. I took her, even though I was supposed to be leaving. We roamed the front of the home and looked at flowers, and I asked her about her life. When I brought her back inside, she thanked me so much for spending the time with her. I am so very sorry for your loss. She will be missed!
