Obituary For Bernard T. "Bernie Funtal

Age 87, on Monday, May 18, 2020, of Whitehall.

Beloved husband of the late Eileen T. (Schmitt) Funtal and companion of the late Mary Milinski; loving father of Carol Ann (Joe) Rockenstein, Janet (Scott) Vanderslice and Diane (Loran) Skinkis; devoted grandfather of Amanda (Brian Alge) Pearsol, Amber Pearsol, Tony Pearsol, Kevin Skinkis and Audrey Skinkis; brother of Joseph Funtal and Francis Funtal and the late Catherine Krass, Carl, Thomas, Andrew and Albert Funtal. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Bernie was a social member of the VFW Post 1810. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing to polka music, napping (but still watching TV) and spending time with family. He was selfless, giving and ready to joke around with anyone around him. Visitation and funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements entrusted to the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.     My deepest sympathy to the Funtal family. I was so blessed to have Bernie in my life! He was a WONDERFUL, kind-hearted gentleman who became a big part of our family! I thank him for all he did for my mom, and for bringing her much happiness. They made such a cute couple!! I will miss Bernie and our fun Bingo games at Atria. May you rest in Jesus' arms in peace and comfort, Mr. Bernie. I love you...and I know, ditto!

    Uncle Bernie was always ready with a smile and a funny observation. Bob was always impressed that he could eat so much at picnics and never gain an ounce! They called him Quarters when he played that 66 card game because of his high stakes betting. He was a sweet man.

    I have known Bernie and Eileen and Mary and his family for over 40 years. He was the sweetest and happiest person you could meet. Always joking and laughing. Loved his 3 girls with all his might and grandkids, too. It was an honor to be your friend and neighbor, Bernie. Say 'hi' to Eileen and Mike for me!
