Age 100, of South Park, formerly of Carrick, passed away in her home on September 18, 2026.

Betty was born February 9,1926 in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh, to the late William J. and Mellora R. (Ries) Reich. She was preceded in death by her husband James T. Breisinger, sisters Regina (Reich) Caruso and Mellora (Reich) Kielarowski, and her brothers William and Gerald Reich.

She is survived by her eight children to whom she gave the gift of life: James R. (Donna Jean), Gary D. (Sharon), Donna J. (Terry) Tressler, Larry W. (Linda), Coleen R. (Bill) Roecker, Glenn J. (Becky), Terry P. (Adrianne), and Dale D. (Partner Linda), 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, her brother, Ronald Reich, sister-in-law, Claire Bench Breisinger, and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Betty was a loving and devoted wife and mother, an avid reader and writer, sports enthusiast, flower gardener and devoted Christian. A person of high integrity and honesty, she was also a self-reliant, independent minded person. She believed in treating everyone the same without favoritism or prejudice and routinely contributed to numerous charities. She always had a positive and pleasant disposition. She loved people, conversation, and picnics.

Her passion was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A 1944 graduate of South Hills High school, she worked for various employers including Graybar Electric, Blue Cross and Children’s Hospital, all of whom valued her dedication, cheerfulness, high intelligence and skill.

In 1948, she married the love of her life Jim. They enjoyed a marriage of nearly 70 years while performing her favorite job of raising their eight children.

Betty's family thanks all the caregivers who cared for her, just as they would their own mother. They include private duty caregivers Judy Morgan, Amber Husar, Mimi Gruber, Martha Regan, and Stacy Caruso; the Comfort Keepers Team, the Home Stay Comfort Care Team, the Interim Hospice Team, and previously the Bridges Hospice Team. They all worked with the family to enable Betty to remain in her home as the need for assistance developed during the last five years.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227 on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Basil Church 1735 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. Internment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
