Obituary For Beverly E. Drentkiewicz

Beverly E. (Taufer) Drentkiewicz "Drent", age 73, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, of Baldwin Boro. Born to the late Ernie and Sue Taufer on August 18, 1952.

Beloved mother of Kristen L. Born (Gentry) and Jeff (Destinie) Drentkiewicz; proud grandmother of Donald Tyler (Natalie), Kaelly (Justin), Madison, Tori and Dustin (Gracie); cherished sister of Cheryl (Bob) Warzinski. Will be dearly missed by John Drentkiewicz and family, nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, friends and her beloved cat Luna.

Beverly grew up in Baldwin Borough and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1970. She went on to attend and graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Beverly then began her career as a teacher for Brentwood School District. She coached various sports such as swimming, track and field, and volleyball. Bev, or “Mrs. Drent,” was a well- loved and admired teacher. Later in her career, she made time to get her master’s degree in Exercise Science. She was an avid and talented artist, who worked in multiple mediums.

Bev was a life-force and seemingly had a never-ending tank of energy for gardening and house projects. She had a knack for interior decorating and often changed the color of her walls. She loved having big family dinners, where she had multiple crockpots cooking, all burners on the stove in use, and the oven jam packed. Then everyone would go home with enough food for the week, you weren’t allowed to leave without multiple to go containers.
Bev had an incredible sense of humor and was not afraid to be silly, especially with her grandchildren. She was everything you could ever hope to have in a mother. Her grandchildren were her entire world. She lovingly spent time with them, guiding them through life, encouraging them to be good people, teaching them to swim, paint, and craft.

Beverly was selfless, humble, and kind. She had a generous spirit and would help anyone she could, whenever she could. She will be missed beyond measure by all who loved her.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, September 15, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of closing prayer at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Make-a-Wish Foundation, Koppers Building, 436 Seventh Avenue, 25th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or your favorite local animal shelter.

I was a good friend of Mrs Drentkiewicz's son Jeff growing up on Colewood Dr. She was always more than nice and patient with all of the Neighborhood kids aka "The Colewood gang". One of the nicest and understanding Moms there could possibly be. Tons of great memories at their house.

My deepest sympathies to the family. I had the pleasure of having Mrs. Drent as a teacher, swim and track coach. She's the one that got me into diving when we didn't have divers to compete. Such an amazing coach and all around person. I have nothing but good memories of her.

Bev was such a beautiful woman inside and out, always thinking of others before herself. John and I shared so many wonderful times with her—picnics, birthdays, holidays, and more. She had a way of making everyone feel at home, whether through her warm hugs, thoughtful gifts, or by sending you off with your favorite food. I will always remember her famous baked crusted chicken and her delicious banana pudding dessert—true labors of love that reflected her generous heart. This loss is so heartbreaking and devastating. Bev was deeply loved, and she will be missed beyond words. My heart goes out to her entire family, and I pray for comfort and healing for each and every one of you during this difficult time.

What a wonderful person Beverly was. When I first met her over 50 years ago she was like a mother to me. She took me everywhere and taught me to swim. She even hosted my wedding reception at her house and made all the food. Once I had my own children, they adored her. She taught them to swim. Whenever we went to the Baldwin pool the first thing they did was look for Aunt Beverly. She usually was there and they hung out with her all day. To this day we always loved her and it was such a pleasure to run in to her out and about. My kids always bragged about Mrs. Drent being their aunt. They had alot of friends that had her at Brentwood and every student loved her. I have coworkers that had her also and anyone who had her at Brentwood said she was the best. Very sad she's gone.

A wonderful loving wife who had to suffer along with me and my PTSD disorder for many years before we knew what PTSD was. I am so sorry that I put her and my children through that and may God bless her and my she finally rest in peace.

Mrs. Drent was the main reason I graduated from high school. She allowed this student to take swimming class at the end of the day to make up for missing the early am swimming class. May the peace of the Lord be with the family. Thank you Ms. Drent. Dave

My sincere condolences to the family. Mrs Drent was a great swim coach and mentor. I still have the drawing she made me while we were in study hall. It was from the swim meet the night before, a high school meet (1994). Prayers to the family. RIP Mrs Drent... Adelle

God gained a beautiful heart felt woman you always took time to listen to what you had to say, she also always gave a good debate that made you think of your choices. I thank God for having the privilege of Mrs. Drent being my teacher and a person I knew I could trust when life was down, Now we will have a Saint looking down on us all and especially her family and she will be able to ask God directly to help us. Until we meet again in our real home enjoy your time with our creator and shine down on your family to get through this next journey. We love you Mrs Drent and we will always. The Lammert Family

What a loss of light! Bev was nothing short of a dynamo. Energy and smiles were contagious when she was there. I'll never forget my first year teaching. I was lost most of the time. She was always there to give me a pep talk or an offer to sit with her at PD so I wouldn't feel so out of place. I am so sorry for the family's great loss. My prayers are with you and with her.
