Obituary For Bill Sandsberry

Of South Park, formerly of Hazelwood and Duquesne, suddenly passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Husband of Mickey (Vecchio) Sandsberry for 52 years. Father of Dale Stephenson of Miami, FL. Rich (Sherry) Stephenson of Bethel Park and Jackie (Jason) Giddy of Las Vegas, NV. Brother of Robin (Richard) Henry of North Huntingdon. Beloved pappy of Richard, Michael, Samantha and Mackenzie Stephenson and Robert and Remy Giddy. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting, school and social events both in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his mother Roberta (Schmitt) Shimko and father Samuel Sandsberry, Sr and his step-father Steve Shimko. He was loved by his nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers.

Bill retired after 40 years as a licensed truck driver for Allegheny County. Shortly after retiring, Bill began a second career as a school bus driver for the Bethel Park School District for the last 7 years where he often received presents and notes of thanks from the students. Bill was a football coach to many at St. Stephen's School, a member and mentor at the local weightlifting gym in Hazelwood and known to yell at a few TV screens over the years during the Steelers football seasons.

We will all miss Bill very much. Friends will be received at the John F. My dear Mickey, my loving friend Dale and family: We are never ready to say goodbye to someone we love. There are events that we do not accept or understand, but that have a reason, perhaps God took him away because he deserved to be in a better place or in a place full of peace. I'm sorry that there is so much distance between us in these situations, but please, receive all my love and my warm, a big hug and my prayers for you. With all my love Alicia Neyra
