Obituary For Catherine M. (Auen) Priano

Age 94 of Whitehall passed peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while holding her daughter's hand.

Beloved wife of the late Tony; loving mother of four sons Tony, Gerry (Mimi), Al (Cheryl) and Jeff (Linda) and one daughter, Karen. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren (10 boys and 1 girl), and 25 great-grandchildren (20 boys and 5 girls). Preceded in death by her parents, siblings and grandson Zachary.

Cathy was born on July 25, 1931, and grew up in Mt. Oliver. She was the third of seven children of Anthony and Catherine (Baldauf) Auen. She met the love of her life, Tony, doing the Jitterbug at Sully's, a dance hall in Brentwood. They were married for 62 years.

Throughout her life, Cathy's pride was her large, close family, one filled with laughter and song. They lived in a home built by her husband and Cathy was the accountant for his construction business. She also helped him to prepare their driveway for concrete, while she was carrying her third child.

Cathy was Vice-President of the St. Elizabeth Church Senior Citizen's Group and worked with Tony directing the Seniors' trips for many years, traveling everywhere from the Caribbean to Panama to Nova Scotia. She was also involved with the St. Elizabeth Spring-A-Rama, working the poker table with her husband and played cards for decades with her women's group.
