Age 96, of Baldwin Borough, formerly of Oakland, entered eternal life, reunited with her husband, on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Peggy was the daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy McCarthy, preceded in death by her brother James McCarthy, and her sisters Mary Jane Wedge and Dorothy Miller. She was the beloved wife of the Late Charles F. (Fred) Bettilyon and a cherished mother to their two daughters Frances “Sandy” (wife to the late Thomas) Harris and Kathleen (husband Dennis) Churley, as well as her “sonny boy” Charles T. (wife Diane) Bettilyon. Peggy graced the lives of her five beautiful grandchildren, Michele (James) Campeau, Jessica (Tim) Merolillo, Lindsay (Brad) Ruth, Ashley Bettilyon and Matthew Bettilyon; her great grandchildren Jordan Hightower, Madison Campeau, Riley Ruth and Sophia Merolillo; and many nieces and nephews. Her spirit will be carried on by her family, friends and all those that had the pleasure of crossing paths with her in her beautiful life. Time spent with her family was one of the most important things to her, so she always made it a priority. From holiday gatherings to simple Sunday morning breakfasts, she was always there and cherished every moment. She shared her faith, her food and her boundless wisdom to many over the years and we are all greater because of it. Her physical absence will be felt deeply, but we know she will be with us in spirit. Please join us in celebrating her life on Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 2-7 p.m. at John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 where a blessing service will be held in the Chapel on Monday morning at 10:00. Following the blessing service, she will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
