Obituary For Catherine Rose Smith

July 27, 1944 - October 8, 2018

Smith, Catherine Rose (Pyle), age 74, of Overbrook, after a courageous battle with breast cancer, with her family by her side, on Monday, October 8, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Richard F. Smith; loving mom of Jim (Barbie) Smith, Linda (Steve) Weisbrod and the late Ricky Smith (survived by Susan Moskiewski); proud grandmother of Stephen, Brooke, Danielle, Tori and Ryder; great-grandmother of Alivia and Sophia; sister of the late William "Butch" Pyle. Cathy was very well known working in Kaufmann's/Macy's Bakery for 24 years. She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed going to the casino. However, she was at her best and happiest being with her family. Cathy relied heavily on her Catholic faith and walked by faith not by sight. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the blessing service at 10:30 a.m.

I met Catherine on a few occasions since her granddaughter Tori & my grandson Garret are a couple. She was such a friendly, sweet lady. Always made me feel like we had been friends forever. She will be very much missed.
