Obituary For Charles L. "Red" Kessler

September 26, 1929 - July 25, 2017

Kessler, Charles L. "Red" On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, of Asbury Heights, formerly of Baldwin, originally of Mt. Oliver.

Husband of Rene Kessler; father of Tim (Jeani) Kessler of Montara, CA, Terri (David) Bourdon of Blacksburg, VA and Dianne (Patrick) Mosimann of London, England; grandfather of Kasey (Brynne), Devon (Tim), Jamie (Tabitha), Alison (Will), Dani and Gabriel. Red will be remembered fondly by his many friends and ever-expanding family. He was born on the Southside of Pittsburgh, and after moving to Mt. Oliver, was one of five students bussed to Brentwood High to attend their Honors Program. As a young adult, he managed the oldest and smallest Gulf station in the city. In 1967, he began a 27 year career with what would become Pittsburgh Crane and Conveyor, designing overhead cranes and monorail systems for power plants, manufacturing, and material handling, often as the lead salesman for the company. But for all his accomplishments, his love of friends and family always came first. Each member of his loving family will remain forever grateful for everything he has done for them. Family and friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Friday, July 28, 2017, from 5-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Asbury Foundation (asburyheights.org). Please send condolences to www.johnfslater.com.

I was sorry to hear of your loss. Some of my happiest days on Elmwood Drive were because of friends like you and Red. God bless you and your family.
