Obituary For Charles Sterling Prosser

Of Whitehall, formerly of Bethel Park, PA, passed peacefully May 11, 2020. He was born July 10, 1929. Beloved husband to the late Jane Lang Prosser for 51 years; father of Charles S. (Angie) Prosser of Mexico Beach, Florida, and Lisa (Richard) Robbins of Bethel Park; grandfather of Holden and Madeline Prosser and Nathaniel, Jared and Lianna Robbins. Son of the late Charles S. and Loretta (nee Hegmann); brother of Robert D. Prosser of Renton, Washington, and the late Marjorie Mitchell of Pittsburgh, PA. Chuck retired from US Steel Corporation as Supervisor of Metallurgical Auditing in 1986 after 35 years. Post retirement, he worked as a Quality Process Control Consultant in the US and Europe. He was a proud graduate of Grove City College (BS Chemical Engineering) and member of the Delta Iota Kappa Fraternity. Before that he attended Munhall High School and was graduated class of 1947. He was a 65-year member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Omni Lodge No. 582. An avid Pirates, Steelers and Penguins fan, Chuck loved visiting Pirate Spring training in Bradenton, Florida. His favorite memories were travelling with Jane on Steeplechase neighborhood bus trips, visiting dear friends and family up and down the eastern states, trips with his beloved sister and brother-in-law and spending summer vacations on his favorite beach on Longboat Key with the most wonderful White Sands friends from across the country and Europe. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a “duly licensed Honorary Duck Captain of the highest order” (he had the License to prove it) from Duck Tours of Branson, MO! There will be no visitation. Chuck will be laid to rest with his beloved Jane in the Columbarium at Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park and we will celebrate his life at a later date when family and friends can gather. Arrangements entrusted to the John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Charles S. Prosser to the Asbury Foundation, 700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.

Dearest Lisa & Family: My heartfelt love and peace to you with your dad's passing. What a great man who loved all of you so very much. Please take great care as you walk this journey of grief and loss. I know it has been some time since we all have seen each other, since I have retired and spend winters south, but I have amazing memories of both of your folks and Aunt Marjorie - what spunk and love they all bestowed on all of you. Hold fast to all of your wonderful memories, love, and blessings you have in your heart, mind, and soul from a life time of experiences. Much love and peace, Rev. Cindy Schneider
