January 12, 1964 - June 7, 2014 Carnegie, Christopher Paul A spectacular sunrise filled the sky as Christopher Paul Carnegie passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, June 7, 2014. His mother and brother Michael were the first to welcome him into Heaven to share the peace and joy of Jesus. Chris was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 12, 1964, in the midst of a great snowstorm, to Edward and Margaret (Peg) Carnegie. He was their 4th son. He graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1982, and received a degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University in 1986. Chris worked many various jobs over the years, including golf, Oak Warehouse, and banking at various locations, with his favorite being inside Universal Studios. He formed his own company, Pirates Paradise Collectibles. This was mainly a catalogue/mail order business; he also appeared in the Century III Mall, and at numerous boat shows where he won a number of exhibit awards. Chris met the love of this life, Angie Andrews-Pohrer in 1987, and they were married in Ocean City, Maryland, September 18, 1993. Chris and Angie then moved to Ocoee, Florida four months later, where they made a warm and welcoming home. You knew you would always be spoiled on a visit to Chris and Angie! Their "kids" consisted of parrots Loco and Abigail, and dogs Fritzi and Dallas. Lots of great memories were made there. Chris' health issues kept him from being able to continue outside employment; his full time job then became caring for Angie. He would bring her coffee in the morning, iron her clothes, help her to get ready for work. His dedication to Angie and to marriage is an inspiration for us all. Chris had a knack for making others around him feel good - his silliness and humor kept everyone smiling; it lightened your heart just to be with and talk with him. He never shied away from sharing his deep faith and encouraged others in their walk with Christ; his relationship with our Savior is deep and profound. Chris was an avid golfer since his St. E's days - he had competed on the Edwin Watts golf tour, and also was on the Forest Lake then the Universal Orlando Employee Golf League. Chris played on multiple championship teams with Universal, and did advisory and rule committee work for them even after he could no longer play. He was a member and range monitor for the Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club. He loved sports and had great moments pitching on the ball field, on the golf course, and on various fantasy sports leagues with his siblings, nephews, and friends. Even as pulmonary fibrosis weakened him, he continued to be passionate about his wife and family and share his love of God. He was preceded in death by his mother, brother Michael, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and cousins Mike and Tony. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angie, father Edward John, MD, brothers Ed (Jan Lovich) and Doug, and sister Meg (Danny Wainwright), nephews Justin (Christine), Adrian (Kristy), Damian (Samantha), Evan, and Patrick (Melea), nieces Quinn and Andi, plus grandniece and nephews Mia, Max, and JT. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 am. Loco and Abby now live at Zaksee Bird Sanctuary in Florida. In lieu of flowers, Chris would be honored by any donations to support "his babies." Zaksee, 8707 Bay Crest Lane, Tampa, FL 33615. Please be happy and hold your memories of Chris dear; he would want you to think of him and smile.
