Obituary For Cyril A. Schmitt, Jr.

Cyril A. Schmitt, Jr., age 95, of Rostraver, formerly of Brentwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Beloved husband of 71 years to Arlene R. (Sterling) Schmitt; loving father of Curtis (Donna), Cheryl (Darryl) Borrelli, Maryann (Ed) Stawowczyk, Lisa (David) Silver, Lori (Sean) Campagna and Scott (Christine); cherished Pap Pap of Christopher, Jessica, Sophia, Mia, Eddie, Myranda, Matthew, Carlye, Lauren, Dominic, Elijah, Evan and Cary; proud great-grandfather of Noel, Kateri, Briella, Lorenzo, Amina and Eliana; son of the late Cyril A. Sr. and Elizabeth (Barwick); brother of George (Sue) Schmitt, Norma (James) Bond, James (Pat) Schmitt, Catherine Schmitt, Barb (Rick) Buczynski and the late Elizabeth Polanowski and Mary Patterson. Cy served in the U.S. Air Force, retired from J&L Steel and had a love of baseball, antique cars, all things country western and most of all, his devoted family. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 a.m.

    He is the Grandfather of one of my best childhood friends, and the father of my adopted Father. I had the pleasure of taking care op my "PAP" during his stay at my rehab facility. Everyone loved him, especially the ladies, they all took to him and made his stay smooth. PaP was sweet and kind. A loving supportive family. I gained a slew of adopted Aunts and Uncles. You all are in my prayers I've been intertwined with the family for 30+ years. He is flying with the angels now, NO MORE PAIN!
