Obituary For Dale Albert Koett

KOETT, DALE ALBERT, age 78, of Baldwin Borough passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. Dale was born in Pittsburgh on July 14, 1943, to Helen K. (Eicker) and George Koett both of whom preceded him in death. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to his late wife and love of his life, Mary Ann; cherished father of Dan & Cassondra Koett and the late Kelly Koett and loving grandfather to Jonathan. He was the adored son-in law of Stella D. (Low) and William J. Schricker both of whom preceded him in death. Dale was the dear brother of Carol and the late Joe Sauter, Dave Koett (Cathy), and Paul Koett (Renee). Dale was the treasured brother-in-law of the late Bill Schricker (Doo), Aunt Nancy DiMeglio, Jack Schricker (Bev) and the late Shirley Hart (survived by Tex). Dale was the proud uncle, great uncle, and great-great uncle of dozens of nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins, including Jeff Sammel (Carol), who was like a brother to him. His "other" sons Dan Simoni (Michelle) and Carl Morosetti (Ashley) and their children brought great joy to his life. Dale was a US Army Veteran who honorably served his country in the early 1960s. He spent his career working as a mechanic, first on cars and then on commercial airplanes; he eventually retired from US Airways. Dale had a heart of gold and was always happy to help a friend or family member in need. He had a great sense of humor and a booming and infectious laugh which everyone who knew him loved to hear. He loved watching war movies, Westerns, and comedies and was particularly fond of ones starring John Wayne. Dale was strong in his Christian faith and relied heavily on it in both good and bad times. He was a master craftsman and enjoyed spending his free time, especially in retirement in his workshop making beautiful furniture pieces, flag cases, chair rails and baseboards in his home, and even a podium for his educator daughter-in-law that was beyond compare. The items he created and shared with others brought him pride and a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Life growing up on Deervue Drive brings back so many fond memories. Water battles with Connie & Bob in the backyard, birthday parties with all the extras, vacations to Holden Beach, Indian Guide campouts, treehouses, go-carts, volunteering at the Vintage Grand Prix with Phil & Evelyn, Christmas mornings that made the spirit of the season come alive (complete with a tree from Chuckie's), and New Year's Day pork and sauerkraut with a house full of family and friends were some of the countless and unforgettable memories dad and mom made possible. Dale was a good man and will be missed greatly by many. Anyone who met him was richer for the experience. His memory will live on through those who knew and loved him. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Sunday, September 5, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services and interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, October 22. If desired, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, 750 Holiday Drive, Suite 110 Pittsburgh, PA 15220, www.promedicahospice.org.

Love for Dale "Dad" Koett. Still owe Dale about ten cases of beer that Dan I draft in the basement back when we probably shouldn't have been drinking.
