Obituary For Dan D. Heath

February 16, 1955 - January 2, 2017

Heath, Dan D., age 61, after a brief illness, on Monday, January 2, 2017 of Brentwood. Beloved husband of Tracy (Thurner); loving father of Lauren (Omar Mejia Ortiz) Heath; proud pap of Kinley Mejia; son of George and the late Nancy Heath; brother of Sandy (Michael) Medock, Bonnie (Dr. William) Lewis and William (Jussemara) Heath. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan retired from Bettis after more than 40 years of service. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. where a blessing service will be held Friday morning at 11:00. If desired, family suggests contributions to Western PA Humane Society, 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.

    Knew Dan for many years at Bettis. What a good man to leave so soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.

    He was a great friend as we grew up on Beechdale Street. We shared a passion for cars, music, and girls. Too many memories and stories and they are all wonderful. Some people help mold our growing-up years. I was fortunate that Dan Heath was one of those. You will be missed, my friend.

    I'm truly sorry of hearing of Dan's passing. I've known Dan since we were in diesel technical school at Steel Valley in the early 70's, he was a good friend. He always liked to tinker with old cars. He will be missed by family and friends.
