Obituary For David Allen Long

Beloved son of Anne (Charles) Heil, George (Becky) Long, brother of Nick (Valera) Long, Joey Long, Lizzy (Graydon) Crawford and Kiefer Long, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Springfield, MO. Preceded in Death by: Mema/Pap Frazee, Pap George Alvin Long, Gram Linda Tortoreti, Gram Nancy (Neal) Hale, Uncle Gary Lowman, Uncle Jim Long, Step-Mother Susan A. Long, Pap Charles Heil, and sadly many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

David served in the Navy on the USS Alabama after joining via the “Buddy” system with his best friend, Taj. After his discharge he worked in the field of energy and power for the “Dept. of Energy.” He was meticulous and proud of his employment at Puget Sound in Washington State; then when he moved to Missouri, he worked for the Southwest Power Administration, in Springfield, MO. He was never late for work.

He was generous, kind, and would do anything for his family and friends at the drop of a hat. He adored his “Pap” and loved going to the track with him. He will be missed by his Grandfather, Angelo Tortoreti, and Grandmother, Patti Heil, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was especially adored by his Aunt Donna, Aunt Connie and Uncle Russell.

David loved the outdoors, especially vacationing at the beach with family. He played the bass guitar and was passionate about creating and enjoying music. He was dedicated to physical fitness and played video games in his free time.

Even though he battled with depression, he was on a journey to find GOD.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Private funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 followed by burial with full military honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Addiction Recovery Ministry, 2599 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 or your favorite charity.

IF SOMEONE IN YOUR LIFE IS STRUGGLING WITH LONELINESS, DEPRESSION, AND ADDICTION, PLEASE SUPPORT THEM IN FINDING THE HELP THEY NEED. MOSTLY, BE THERE FOR THEM AFTERWARDS.

(WHEN THE REAL HARD PART BEGINS)

I really never met anyone quite like this man, this Son of mine. I can't wait to see him again to tell him so. If he only knew and loved himself half as much as other's did, he would still be here. He would look at any situation and think of what he could do to lift the burden and make everyone happy. Hats off to our Skippy. Our hearts our broken to know you were sad. If we only had a time machine...... Thank GOD that we have his absolute assurance of the resurrection. We all long to have one of your famous smiles and hugs. Of course, all your Siblings will have to give us double smiles and hugs till we see You again, darling Son. I LOVE YOU DAVID. Miss you soooo much!!! Love, Mom and Dad
