Obituary For Deborah J. "Debbie" (O'Hearn) Ferranti

Of Brentwood, Pennsylvania, was called home to the Lord far too soon on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 65 after a short but incredibly courageous battle with cancer. She passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Though her journey was difficult, Debbie faced it with unwavering faith, grace, and dignity, inspiring everyone around her with her relentless positivity, resilience, and strength.

Born on January 6, 1961, in Brentwood, Pennsylvania, Debbie was the beloved daughter of Edward and Rose O'Hearn. She graduated from the Shadyside School of Nursing in 1980 and dedicated her career to serving others as an exceptional nurse and fierce advocate for her patients. Throughout her years in school and her nursing career, she formed lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply. Debbie was forever grateful for these friends, whose unwavering love and support remained by her side through every season of life.

On April 24, 1982, Debbie married the love of her life, Michael Ferranti. Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage built on love, laughter, faith, and devotion. She was a proud and dedicated member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, serving as President of Everglade Lodge #116 for 30 years with remarkable commitment and pride.

Above all else, Debbie's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, Gigi, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and cherished friend. Raising her four daughters was the greatest work and privilege of her life. Debbie's kindness, generosity, and selflessness touched everyone who knew her, often accompanied by one of her homemade treats. Whether through the traditions she lovingly created, the time she shared with those she loved, or the countless ways she cared for others, Debbie leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and unconditional love. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Edward R. O'Hearn; her father- and mother-in-law, Alfred and Mary Grace (Stein) Ferranti; and her brother- and sister-in-law, John and Barbara (Ferranti) Maus.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Ferranti; her daughters, Christina Ferranti, Angela (Ron) Caruso, Melissa (Meaghan Bakey) Ferranti, and Julia Ferranti and her fiancé, Seth Nordeen; her precious grandchildren, Riley and Brendan Caruso; her mother, Rose O'Hearn; her siblings, Edward (Mary Beth) O'Hearn, Karen (Thomas) Foley, and Kenneth (Pamela) O'Hearn; her brother-in-law, James (Debbie Dean) Ferranti; and many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 and Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral prayer will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, please send donations to “Hair Peace Charities” or the “Endometrial Cancer Research Foundation.”

    My deepest condolences to the Ferranti and O'Hearn families. I had met Debbie many years ago when I served as the treasurer and my brother Joe, served as the reporter of ISDA lodge #116. She was a dedicated member of the lodge and always willing to lend a hand and help members and their families as well as volunteer to help with lodge events.. Very sorry to hear of her passing.     Where do I begin. Debbie grew up in the house beside me but we only met as adults when she came to visit her parents in her childhood home. We had a lot in common, we both had husbands named Mike, we were only 6 months apart. Once having a detailed conversation we realized the 4 of us were all experiencing health issues at the same time. We have kids close to the same age and I was classmates with Ernie (Mike Ferranti's cousin), also Debbie's mom Rose and my father both worked for Eickley Corporation. Talk about a small world! Debbie was always soft spoken, very intelligent, kind hearted, and always looked for the silver lining in every cloud. She truly was a child of God and the perfect example of how to live your life. To Rose, Mike, her children and their families, her siblings and their families: Me and my family offer our heart felt sympathy. May she rest peacefully in our Lords loving arms and may your treasured memories of her help sustain you all during this most difficult time. Until we meet again Debbie 🩷

    My condolences to all the people blessed to have known and been loved by Deb. I met her at work 20 years ago and instantly fell in love with her warm smile, her kindness, and her loving nature. Over the years of our friendship, no matter the struggles she was facing herself, she never failed to ask about me and my family. I admired her as a nurse, a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a friend.     Our deepest condolences to the entire O'Hearn and Ferranti families. Mike and daughters, grandma Rose, Karen and family, Ed and family....Debbie was a beautiful ray of light, an angel! Never heard a negative or cross word come out of her mouth. She made me feel welcomed and loved the first time I met her. She never forgot my children's birthdays or holidays, she was always generous and thoughtful. Although our paths were distant for many years, I was grateful to reconnect with Debbie within the past year. Through her inspirational and optimistic approach, her faith was always her leader. She is no longer here with us in the flesh, but her spirit and beautiful soul is soaring above us....never to be forgotten and forever in God's kingdom.
