Obituary For Dolores Rose Cupples

October 4, 1920 - October 28, 2016

Cupples, Dolores R. (Dithrich) Age 96, on Friday, October 28, 2016, of Baldwin Borough.

Loving wife of the late Norman D. Cupples, Sr.; devoted mother of Karen (John) Sechrist, Deborah (Chuck) Morinello, Norman D., Jr. (Connie Ordy) and Mary-Ann Cupples; affectionate grandmother of Justin (Jackie) Cupples, Ian (Clare) Cupples and Charles (Claire) Morinello; great-grandmother to Colette and Graham Cupples; preceded in death by her parents Leo J. and Emma (Christ) Dithrich as well as five siblings, Rosella Oechslein, Felicitas Kunzler, Leo J. Dithrich, Jr. Wilfred S. Dithrich and Melvin C. Dithrich; beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dolores lived a rich, full and loving life, worked as a secretary in the Mine Engineering Office at the University of Pittsburgh from which she retired in 1985 and was an active member of St. Albert the Great Church, serving at times on Parish Council and Christian Mothers. She was a charter member of the WJHHS and a former member and President of the Pittsburgh Doll Club where she created beautiful scrapbooks which earned national awards from the United Federation of Doll Clubs. Dolores belonged to Golden Agers along with numerous other card clubs, drove until the age of 91 and maintained a huge doll collection which she shared with the community in presentations and library displays. She was a family history and genealogy buff and initiated the Dithrich Christ Family Reunions in 1987. Her life might be summed up by "He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much" (Bessie Anderson Stanley). Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Sunday from 6-8 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Prayer on Tuesday morning at 9:45 Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Apostles Parish in St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 am.
