May 15, 1935 - January 3, 2018 DiPilato, Domenic A. Age 82, of South Park (formerly of Worcester, MA) passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He fought an arduous battle with bravery and dignity and he is now in the arms of his loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Beloved husband of Anna Roberto DiPilato of 23 years, who he affectionately called his guardian angel and soul mate. Loving father of David (Cathy Jacques) DiPilato, John (Susan) DiPilato, Diane (J.P.) Ricciardi, Nancy (Dan Leahy) DiPilato; devoted grandfather of Vanessa (Eric) DiPilato Sheehan, Briana (John) Dipilato Capistran, Dante and Mariano Ricciardi and great-grandson, Luca Sheehan, all of MA; brother Nino (Arlene) DiPilato of Port Orange, FL and three nephews, David, Michael and Vincent DiPilato. Domenic was pre-deceased by his brother Pasquale and sister Eleanora. Domenic was the son of Vincenzo and Nunzia DiPilato and he was extremely proud of his Italian heritage which he passed along to his children and grandchildren. In his younger years, Domenic was part of the Frank Mungo Trio, played the accordion and even entertained in later years. Domenic was Assistant Director, USW New England. He tirelessly served for 40 years as an advocate for workers' rights. He served on the MA AFL-CIO Labor Council, Trustee for Worcester State College, and was the Coordinator for Workers' Assistance Program. He cared deeply for the working men and women he served, and was passionate about securing a safe work environment, negotiating improved working conditions and fighting for basic human dignity of a fair wage. Domenic, a kidney transplant recipient, held a special place in his heart for his transplant family and gave of his time to promote donor awareness. He also proudly served the United States Naval Reserves during the Korean War. Family and friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Saturday, January 6, 2018, 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, January 7, 2018, 1-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 am. Flowers are appreciated and memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, 1 North Linden Street, Duquesne, PA 15110 and/or the Light of Life Rescue Mission, 913 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
