Obituary For Donald P. Remlinger, Sr.

Age 86, peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, of Baldwin Boro, formerly of Carrick.

Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Phyllis Eileen (Remele) Remlinger; loving father of Vickie (Wayne) Stock, Donald P., Jr. (Janet), Gary (Melanie), Jeffrey (Marcia) and the late Jeanine (survived by James) Revak; cherished grandfather of David (Tanya), Jena Stock, Tori (Gregory) Loeffler, Nathaniel (Lindsay) and Donald III (Karly) Remlinger, Alexandra (Thomas) Vaughan, Alyssa (Glenn) Eisel, and Taylor, Aaron, Joshua and Maximilian Remlinger, Gary, Jr. (Alexis), Emily, Benjamin, Zachary, Jeffrey, Jr., Lauren, Elizabeth and Jessica Remlinger; proud great-grandfather of Delanie, Tucker, Nora, Donald IV, William, Thomas, Ava and Reid; son of the late Marie and Victor Remlinger; brother of the late Regis Remlinger. Donald married his high school sweetheart in 1957, Phyllis Remele. Together, they had five children and dedicated their lives to their family. In Donald's early working years, he posted billboards for Pittsburgh Outdoor Advertising. Later, he found his true calling as a Pittsburgh Police Officer for 27 years, serving the community and rushing to the aide of others. His police career spanned: the patrol car, ambulance service, the paddy wagon, Officer Friendly, a Carson Street beat man and the Traffic Division as "The Boot Man." Donald loved hunting, fishing and family vacations. He spent many, many enjoyable weekends with family and friends at his favorite campground near Bedford. He was passionate about Pittsburgh Sports and had a love for playing baseball. But his greatest love was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He bonded with each grandchild, developing a personal, loving relationship. He entertained everyone with his quick wit, sense of humor and the stories of events in his life. He will always be remembered as the perfect role model as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. Donald and Phyllis will be sorely missed but live in our hearts forever. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Church at Noon. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation of Western PA, 575 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202.

Condolences

TO THE FAMILY OF THE LATE DON REMLINGER, I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, AND A FRIEND AND BROTHER OF MINE, WHEN I WAS ASSIGNED AT HIS OLD NUMBER 7 STATION (NOW ZONE 3). WHAT HAS BROUGHT ME TO THIS SUBJECT AFTER SOMETIME, IS THE FACT THAT I HAD "JUST" SEEN MY OLD FRIEND AND DON'S PARTNER, TOM RUSH'S PRESENT OBITUARY AT SLATERS. (I WAS IN FLORIDA WITH MY KIDS WHEN DON HAD PASSED). I WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE OLD NUMBER 7 STATION BACK IN THE LATE 60'S (UNIT PP06) WHEN I WAS INTRODUCED AND FRIENDS OF DON AND TOM. THEY HELPED ME IN ADJUSTING TO DISTRICT PATROLS. BOTH WERE DEDICATED OFFICERS, AND TRUE BROTHER'S TO ME. I WILL SURELY MISS THEM. I PRAY THAT HIS FAMILY IS OK, AND THAT GOD KEEPS THEM STRONG IN DON'S LOSS. REST BROTHER, REST. YOU SERVED THE PITTSBURGH POLICE WITH HONOR. WITH MY SYMPATHY, ELMER FALCIONE Ret. Ofc.
