Age 32 of Castle Shannon, passed away May 29, 2022, in the home he grew up in, surrounded by his loved ones. He lost his hard fought battle with Melanoma and Leptomeningeal Disease.
Drew had an infectious smile and great looking hair. He was handsome, smart, funny, and truly kind-hearted. He loved the neighborhood he grew up in, and the friends he made along the way. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 2008 and from Seton Hill University in 2012. Drew was a star pole vaulter in both high school and college; he was the conference champion in 2012. He was also a terrific bowler and golfer. He once shot a 66 at Victory Hills Golf Course.
Drew loved his family and his many friends, past and present. Everyone who was a part of Drew’s circle felt lucky to know him. He loved his job and work family at Dunbar, Bender, & Zapf, who were so kind and generous to him and his family. Drew loved being a homeowner and took pride in making updates on the house. When he wasn’t working or spending time with family and friends, Drew enjoyed weight lifting, golfing, and driving his favorite car.
Drew leaves behind the love of his life, Lauren Lang, his parents Gary and Sandy, his brother and godfather Scott (Pam), his brother and golf buddy (who he always beat) Jay (Jen), his nieces Brooke and Bethany Voelker and Kaylee Kreigline, his nephew and godson Ryan Kreigline who he was always so proud of, and his close and adoring godmother Jean Marie Perry, who nurtured him as her own. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and cousins. Especially Aunt Lydia, who he visited often. Drew was the grandson of the late Jack and Theresa Riefer and the late Carl and Edna Kreigline.
Sincere thanks to AHN, UPMC, and the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Thank you to Dr. Sanjeevi and staff, Dr. Younes and Rhea, Dr. Horne and Sean, Dr. Yu, Dr. Najjar and Nancy, Dr. Brian Horvath, Dr. Howard Pittle, Dr. Joseph Rudolph, and the doctors at MD Anderson.
We all love you Drew, you will never be forgotten. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Melanoma Research Foundation, to help continue the fight against this terrible disease that affects far too many families.
Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 3-8 pm & Thursday, June 2, 2022, 3-7 pm. Miller family
As long-time neighbors of the Kreiglines, the entire Miller family will deeply miss Drew. As he was 13-20 years younger than the three Miller kids, we all truly loved him like a little brother. We fondly remember him joining us in backyard antics, playing cards and boardgames despite his much younger age, teaching Chrissy math to pass her teacher's exam, making pistachio pudding for every picnic, and being roped into silly skits (the most memorable of which was a rap song that landed him the nickname of "Dizzy D"). As we all grew into adults, we kept our connection via many back porch visits filled with laughter and thought-provoking conversations as well as walks around the old neighborhood. We all cherish the time we spent with Drew (or as Chuck called him "the Drewmeister"), and he will forever remain in our hearts as our "Dizzy D". Our deepest sympathy, hugs, and prayers to Lauren and the Kreigline family.

I did not know your son, however, when I was looking through the obituaries, his picture drew my attention. Such a handsome young man and a beautifully written summary of his too short life. When I read he passed from Leptomeningeal Disease my heart dropped. My sister, too, passed from this terrible disease. May God bless all of you and carry you in the palm of his hands to provide healing of your shattered hearts.

I remember Drew from many 4th of July celebrations at the Perry house. He was a sweet young boy and apparently continued to grow into a sweet young man. I am so sorry that the cancer beast claimed another life. Drew was so loved by the Perrys. I remember him being the pride and joy of his mom and dad and grandma and grandpa as well. Their heart-breaking loss is definitely Heaven's gain. I know those who loved Drew and have gone on before him were surrounding him with huge smiles as he heard "Well done good and faithful servant". My sincerest sympathy to all who knew and love Drew.

I had the privilege of working with Drew at Healthtrax. We bonded over being "the young bucks" and our mutual love of math. His smile and laugh was contagious, and I'll always hold our time working together very dear in my heart. His family and friends are in my thoughts through this difficult time. May he rest without pain, in peace.

Drew was a bit older than me but we went to the same high school and used to work out at Healthtrax together. My heart breaks seeing this news-- Drew was such an amazing all around guy and this is just so, so unfair. Keeping his loved ones in my thoughts.

Drew was a summer camp counselor for my program in Whitehall Borough. He was one of the nicest young men I've ever met, not to mention a diligent and responsible employee. The kids loved him, as we all did. This is truly heartbreaking news and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family during this difficult time.
