Age 67, on Saturday, July 19, 2014, of Brentwood .

Son of the late Emma and Francis Haney; cousin of Ed and Jane Haney. Ed was a social studies teacher at Oliver High School for 33 years, a J.A. volunteer for over 20 years, a former Brentwood School Director, a Brentwood Councilman, President of Brentwood Council, active at St. Sylvester Church as a Eucharistic Minister, a parish council and pastoral council member, and CCD teacher. Ed was named a Teacher of Distinction, Teacher Excellence, received the Crystal Apple for Outstanding Teaching and the PA House of Representatives citation for Outstanding Teaching and Community Service, and a recipient of over 200 other awards. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 am. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park.
