Obituary For Edward J. McGervey

McGervey, Edward J. Died peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Beloved husband of the late June M. McGervey for 53 years; loving father of E. Michael (Monica) McGervey, Christine (Gregg) Dadig, and Mary C. McGervey; proud grandfather of Michael, Matthew, Julianne, Nicole, Bradley, Matthew, and Justin. Born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Arthur F. and Catherine McGervey; brother of Mary Jane (Jim) Kelly, and the late Arthur (Charlotte) McGervey. Ed joined his father's CPA practice after graduating from John Carroll University in 1961, where he spent over 40 years as a CPA and managing partner. He was a former director of the Pittsburgh Jaycees, member of South Hills Country Club, and long-standing member of St. Gabriel Parish. Ed and his wife, June, retired to Savannah, GA in 2005, where they enjoyed playing golf, were active in their church, and especially enjoyed time with their grandchildren. Ed's generosity and kind nature touched many throughout his life in both his business and the community. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Friday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gabriel of The Sorrowful Virgin Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
