Age 82, on Sunday, November 22, 2020, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Whitehall. Beloved mother of Susan Bird (Mario Calderone), Leslie Bird (Michael Harper), Richard Bird, Jr., Thomas Bird and Deanna Brown (Stephen); grandmother of Wesley and Anna Calderone, Nicole Coppinger Fisher (Jason) and Caitlin and Natalie Brown; sister of Ethel Mae Buehl (the late Donald), the late Patricia Shelkey (survived by Ronald), Marilyn Davis (Adam), Diane Mesiti, and August Fest and also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Doris, Margie, Ruthann, and Carol. Elaine graduated from Baldwin High School in 1956 where she was a member of the Highlander Choir and a varsity cheerleader. She also taught dance to young children at a local studio. She raised five children in Whitehall and worked in sales and later administrative roles for various companies in Pittsburgh, Northern VA, and Lansdale, PA. In the 1960’s golf became Elaine’s passion and for 20+ years she was a member of Youghiogheny Country Club. She played on the YCC women’s golf team and was a member of the WPGA, always winning tournaments. Every Tuesday and Thursday, as well as weekends, Elaine could be found on the links around Pittsburgh. Elaine moved to Northern Virgina in 1984 to be near her sisters and young nieces. In the early 2000’s she again moved to Philadelphia to be near her grandchildren. Elaine returned to the Pittsburgh area in 2015. Elaine loved to watch football and baseball, following the Steelers, Pirates, PSU and Pitt on television until she passed away. Due to the current health crisis, burial was private with a celebration of life planned for early summer 2021. Arrangements by John F.
