Age 85, of Mt. Lebanon, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2026, passing peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on November 2, 1940, Elinor lived a life rooted in faith, family, creativity, and kindness. She was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Toth, sister to the late Dorothy Fatyol, Martha Holmes, and Margaret Whalen, and wife to the late Robert Unico.Elinor was a devoted and loving mother to Derek (Kathy) Backa, David (Karen Gottschall) Unico, Jonathan Unico and former daughter-in-law Jill Unico. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Ryan (Katie) Backa, Julia Backa, Mary Clair (Brett Steele) Unico, and Rocco Unico, and a deeply devoted Gigi to Lily Belle Backa, who brought her endless joy. She was also excitedly anticipating the birth of her next great grandchild, Mary Clair's baby girl. Elinor, a former employee of the United States Postal Service, ultimately pursued her lifelong passion for crafting. Through her creativity, she became a very active and beloved member of the crafting community in Pittsburgh, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her talents with others. She will be remembered for her love of movies, festive sweaters, Christmas, bunnies, crafting, and above all, her grandchildren. Elinor had a warm spirit, a gentle heart, and a gift for making others feel cared for through both her presence and her handmade creations.
